About Knut Erik Jensen
Knut Erik Jensen was born near Trondheim in 1981 and began pursuing his musical studies at age 7 when he took up the accordian. He taught himself as a keyboardist and played in several local pop and rock bands. His interest in classical music was first struck when he heard Grieg's Concerto in A Minor while attending a music symposium. He very quickly changed his primary instrument to piano to pursue his new passion in the classics, but not before winning the Norwegian National Championship for accordian in 1999.
Knut Erik was accepted to the Music Conservatory in Trondheim and earned a Bachelor's degree from the Conservatory in 2005. Since then he has enjoyed a successful and notable career as a soloist playing recitals, performing chamber music, working with choirs and in the opera. He recently studied with the famous Norwegian pianist Havard Gimse. Knut toured the United States and Canada three times during 2007 playing a series of concerts to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Grieg's passing.
Join us for a reception to meet Knut Erik following his concert on March 20, 2009, 8:00 p.m. at Emory University's White Hall.
