Christmas Party for Vennekretsen Lodge No. 678 Members

December 6, 2008

WOW!!! is all I can say. We had hoped for maybe 30-40 guests and we counted more than 150. The pastor of the church was worried the church was going to burst at the seams.

Just one year after a small group gathered to begin efforts to create a Sons of Norway Lodge in Atlanta, over 150 gathered for a fantastic time.

So many from the group were native Norwegians, and the others shared so much of their heritage that it made the day outstanding. Food was both outstanding and plentiful, and a silent auction of items was a good fundraiser.

People dressed up in their finest bunads, brought an incredible variety of fantastic food, good friends, family and lots of children! Thanks to all that made the evening so special!

Thanks to all those who a year ago dreamed of the possibility....

Thanks to all that helped us decorate tables and the Christmas tree. Handmade heart shaped goodie baskets on the tree made it very Norwegian. Thank you Erik for teaching us the tradition of dancing around the Christmas tree and sing Norwegian Christmas carols. A special thanks to all that helped clean up our mess. That is the worst job of all.

Our group is truly diverse with members from 3 weeks to 85 years old. May we have many more juletrefester like this one! We have been truly blessed and I am excited about what the New Year will bring for our not-so-little-anymore vennekrets (circle of friends)!
