Officer's Weekend in Charlotte, "Norsk Carolina"

Officers Gather at Luncheon in North Carolina Sons of Norway Training Weekend

On Saturday, January 24th, 2009, Brad Thorson, Treasurer, Nina Rosvoll, Membership Director, and Anita Winje, Social Director, took part in a SON training session in Charlotte, North Carolina. The sessions, that has been approved by our International Board, was a "utveksling av ideer" or an exchange of ideas. This exchange really worked well as more than six lodges were involved.  The main topic of discussion was membership, which is the primary concern of this years' training programs and perhaps SON's biggest challenge.  We also exchanged ideas about lodge operations, cultural programming and special events.

On Saturday evening, Charlotte's new lodge "Norsk Carolina" had their official installation ceremony.  They are starting their lodge with about 60 members and have already been meeting for about a year. The evening was very festive, with a bountiful spread of open faced sandwiches, sides and desserts.  OK, and the aquavit was very fine too! The new President, Carol King, of Norsk Carolina had this to say after the evening, "Just a quick note to thank all our special visitors, friends and dignitaries from International SON,  District 3 and members from over 12 Lodges around the country represented !  It was so wonderful to have you all here, supporting us and caring for us."  So from Vennekretsen-Atlanta, "Good Luck and a heart-felt welcome to Norsk Carolina!  We look forward to working together with you on future events."
