An Immigrant's Voyage to America - Trondheim to Hull, England
Smaller steamships operated by the Wilson Line, Hamburg-America and other steamship lines brought Norwegian immigrants from the coastal cities to Hull England. From there, they would take a train to Liverpool for the last leg of the voyage to America.
Norwegian Coastal Steamer "Aaro" of the Wilson Line of Hull
The Wilson Line, S. S. Aaro, Founded in the early years of the nineteenth century, the Wilson Line became the largest privately owned steamship fleet in the world. Based in Hull, England, its main trade was to and from Scandinavia and the Baltic States although the Wilson Line also carried cargoes to the USA, the Mediterranean and India.

SS Aaro 1909 Built at Earles shipyard in 1909. 301 ft (104m) long and 2,603 tons gross, she was the first Wilson vessel to be fitted with wireless telegraphy. She had accommodation for 104 first class, forty second class and ninety-four third class as well as 502 steerage passengers. She was sunk in the North Sea by U-20 on 1 August 1916.
