Norwegian Fare at Christmas in 1900

Among Norwegian and Norwegian-American at the turn of the twentieth-century, dishes often served at the homes of the Viking descendants were lutefish, a salted fish, and lefse, a delicious bread rolled thin and baked on top of the stove.

Also Julekake, a loaf of sweet bread, is baked by every Norwegian housewife at Christmas.
